Are your cylinder valves over 10 years old?

23rd May 2018
At DAB, we strive to ensure that our systems and components provide the highest level of fire protection. DAB products are designed for long-lasting performance and reliability. However, fire extinguishing systems and components require periodic inspection and maintenance in order to ensure they remain fit for purpose. In accordance with the Fire Industry Association Guidance on the Periodic Testing of Transportable Gas Containers used in Fire Extinguishing Systems, DAB CO2 cylinder valves should be replaced after 10 years in service. Under the Pressure Equipment Directive and the Carriage of Dangerous Good regulations, CO2 cylinders are required to be submitted for periodic testing within a 10-year interval. Our CO2 cylinder valves use a taper thread form to marry to the cylinder, and these are often found to be outside of the tolerances after a single fitment and removal. Therefore, a new valve should be fitted after inspection to ensure the integrity of the system.
